While at Welham Boy's School, Abhishek Gupta discovered his fascination for art and design through illustrations in school newsletters and art exhibitions. After graduating, he moved to NIFT, New Delhi where he majored in Fashion Design. It was here that he won the Air France International Young Fashion Designers Award and was a finalist in the Smirnoff Design Contest.
After graduating from NIFT, he joined couturier Rohit Bal as an assistant designer. In 1998 he branched out on his own and started his own studio. His clothes portray a fresh perspective. Paying great attention to detail and cut, his clothes are understated and elegant. He works very closely with his tailors and craftsmen to create an impeccable finish. Striving constantly to bring a new intellectual excitement to his work, Abhishek draws inspiration from his experiences. He enjoys designing both menswear as well as womenswear. He retails from premier fashions stores like Ensemble, Ogaan, Amaya, Fusion.
