Act against water-borne diseases, now

The Millennium City’s health department is gearing up to preempt any outbreak of dengue or chikungunya this summer. Civil surgeon Dr Parveen Kumar Garg has sent a notification to all government departments, including Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and primary health centres, to step up efforts to ward off the dreaded seasonal diseases.

Civil surgeon Dr Parveen Kumar Garg has sent a notification to all government departments, including Haryana Urban Development Authority (Huda) and primary health centres, to step up efforts to ward off the dreaded seasonal diseases.

“We have told all the 13 primary centres and three community centres to inform the Civil Hospital in case of any outbreak,” said Dr MP Sharma of Civil Hospital.

At the household level, the department has asked people to use mosquito repellents. Residents are also told to cover water containers. At the school level, students will be imparted health education on all aspects of dengue and chikungunya.
