British Airways on Tuesday announced an additional flight out of Bangalore from May 4, 2006.

The new flight (BA 118) will take off from Bangalore international airport at 5.45 hours (IST) on Thursday and arrive at London Heathrow Airport at 11.50 hours (UK time).

With the introduction of the additional flight, the number of flights from the city had increased from five to six per week, a BA release said in Bangalore on Tuesday.

British Airways has also rationalised its flight frequencies to and from Chennai. Beginning May 4, the airlines will operate five times per week from Chennai to London Heathrow.

"British Airways had recently launched the route connecting Bangalore with London-Heathrow. The response on the new route has led British Airways to advance its plans and add more frequencies out of Bangalore. The increase of frequencies will further enhance convenience, giving passengers more options to choose from," said Alok Sawhney, British Airways Commercial Manager, India.

British Airways currently operates 35 flights per week from London Heathrow to five cities in India, including twice daily to Mumbai, three times per week to Kolkatta; effective May 4, the airline will operate five flights a week from Chennai and six flights a week from Bangalore. From May 8, there will be two flights a day from Delhi.

With this flight, the airline will operate 42 direct flights per week from India to London.
