THE MP High Court, Jabalpur, today directed the Peoples’ College of Medical Science and Research Centre, Bhopal, to give admission to 26 students who were denied admission under government quota in the last academic session, in the forthcoming session.

Besides, the HC slashed the college’s management quota seat by 26 from existing 75 seats for academic session 2006-07 in medical courses.

The college would fill up the seats by giving admission to 26 students who were denied admission in academic session 2005-06 under the government quota.

A division bench comprising Chief Justice A K Patnaik and Justice A K Mishra allowed a bunch of petitions filed by the students stating that the college denied admission to them and filled up the vacant seats under the management quota that exceeded the quota fixed by the government.

The bench said if any seat remains vacant of the 26 seats to be filled under the government quota in session 2006-07, the same should be filed on merit basis of PMT 2006.
