HECTIC PREPARATION is going on at the DDU Gorakhpur University to accord a grand reception to Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav on September 22.

The function is being viewed as a pre-election rally to woo voters in the region.

The district administration is all geared up for the proposed programme. The CM is expected to distribute unemployment allowance cheques among 30,000 youths of Gorakhpur division, besides disbursing Kanya Vidya Dhan cheques to 2500 beneficiaries.

Forty enclosures will be installed with capacity of 1,000 seats each on the ground. Leaders of various political parties will be invited to participate in the programme.

Around 500 buses will be deployed to bring the beneficiaries from different districts of the division.

Talking to mediapersons, district magistrate Dr Hariom said that around 10,000 unemployed youths of Gorakhpur district would benefit in the programme. They have been advised to take the seat at the venue before 8 am. Besides, 1,000 girls students of the district will get Kanya Vidya Dhan cheques.

The DM said that traffic on the university road would be restricted and buses plying on the road would be diverted to other routes.

The university would remain closed on the day and only those having proper passes would be allowed to enter the venue, he added.

The administration had made arrangements for parking of vehicles and special arrangement for VIPs. The vehicles of Gorakhpur district would be parked on St Andrew’s Degree College premises while others vehicles would be parked
at Gorakhpur-Deoria national highway.

Focusing on the security arrangements, SSP Raja Srivastav said six companies of PAC, 250 sub inspectors and 22 ASPs would be monitoring security arrangements.

Meanwhile, revalidating of cheques was in full swing as the cheques were dated August 31 when the CM was scheduled to visit. Later the visit was postponed to September 22.

The unemployment dole beneficiaries have been directed to bring with them their educational certificates duly stamped by the Employment Exchange, a photograph and registration form.

Sources said there were 22,265 male and 6,158 female unemployed youths registered in the division while in Gorakhpur the strength of registered unemployed youths was 7076 males and 2855 females.
