AIADMK forms panel for constitutency allocation

AIADMK appointed a six-member committee to discuss constituency allocation with its allies for the assembly polls in TN, Pondicherry and Kerala.

AIADMK on Monday appointed a six-member committee, headed by its election wing secretary and Revenue Minister O Paneerselvam, to discuss constituency allocation with its allies for the assembly polls in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Kerala.

The other members of the team are D Jayakumar, OS Manian, KA Engottiyan, R Viswanathan and N Dalavai Sundaram, an AIADMK release said in Chennai.

On Sunday, MDMK, now any ally of the AIADMK, had announced the appointment of a four-member committee led by its presidium chairman and MP L Ganesan to hold talks with the AIADMK to identify constituencies.

As far as Tamil Nadu is concerned, AIADMK had allotted 35 seats to MDMK, nine to Dalit Panthers of India, two to Indian National League and one to a splinter group of the Indian Union Muslim League.

AIADMK has also allotted two seats to DPI and 10 to Puducherry Makkal Congress for the polls in Pondicherry.
