AJAY RICHHARIYA of Bhopal today adjudged best boxer in the senior category of the Late Prasoon Sarang Memorial Boxing Championship that concluded at SAI Training Centre.

On the final day senior and junior sections’ bouts were organised. In the senior category, Ajay enthralled local spectators by his splendid show of punches on Yogesh Singh of Jabalpur.

Ajay demonstrated his best skills so far in the championship and won the title. Though Yogesh did his best to respond, Ajay’s aggressive boxing proved too much for his skills.

In the middleweight category of the senior section, Solat Iqbal thumped Shiv Shakti of Jabalpur after a keenly fought contest. In the girls’ section, Jugnu of Jabalpur won the title after defeating Sukhvinder through points.

In the prize distribution ceremony, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan lauded efforts of the organisers for creating atmosphere for boxing in the State capital. He insisted on regularly organising such events.

Vishwas Sarang Sports and Cultural Society secretary Vishwas Sarang said that the society is committed to promoting sports activities in the capital.

On the occasion, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) chairman Ramdayal Prajapati, BJP state organisation general secretary Kaptan Singh Solanki, former director, sports BS Kushwaha, former Olympian Syed Jalaluddin Rizvi, Deepak Gaur, Sugandha Paradkar and others were present.
