He said no political party was in a position to come face to face with the SP in a battle of ballots. Therefore, they had joined hands to defame the government, he said. He appealed to the youth to ensure the success of proposed youth conference of the party on January 29 in Lucknow.
Akhilesh reached Gorakhpur on Monday night on his way to Basti and Sant Kabir Nagar district. He said if the Congress continued its efforts to destabilise the government, the SP would not hesitate to withdraw support to the Congress-led UPA Government at the Centre. But, the time had not come to take such a harsh decision, he added.
In Ballia, Akhilesh called on the youth to first try and get professional degrees before jumping into the political arena.
He blamed education, employment and energy sectors for problems faced by the youth of the State.
Akhilesh was speaking at a function organized by MM Town College Chhatra Sangh.
He stated that no movement could succeed without the help of the youth. He appealed to them to participate in the Yuva Jan Sammelan organised in Lucknow on January 29.
He administered oath of office to office-bearers of TD College Students’ Association for the year 2005-06.
Talking to mediapersons later, Akhilesh alleged the Congress was afraid of the SP’s popularity in Uttar Pradesh, which was demonstrated in the recently concluded zila panchayat chairman’s elections.
In Sant Kabirnagar, he said only the BSP was in a direct fight with the SP in the state. He said BSP supremo Mayawati had “destroyed” Uttar Pradesh when she was Chief Minister.
