Alam processions mark Chehellum
HEART RENDING ?nauha khwani? and the Alam processions marked the ?Chehellum? of Hazrat Imam Hussain on Tuesday. On the occasion, thousands of mourners thronged the Gwaltoli and Nawabganj Karbala to take part in the Chehellum proceedings. Processions of Alams and Tazias from Muslim areas of the city including Colonelganj, Chamanganj, Heeraman Ka Purwa, Beconganj, Nawab Compound, Juhi, Roshan Nagar, and Patkapur were taken out.

On the occasion, thousands of mourners thronged the Gwaltoli and Nawabganj Karbala to take part in the Chehellum proceedings. Processions of Alams and Tazias from Muslim areas of the city including Colonelganj, Chamanganj, Heeraman Ka Purwa, Beconganj, Nawab Compound, Juhi, Roshan Nagar, and Patkapur were taken out. These processions reached Gwaltoli and Nawabganj Karbala. Stalls were put up by various Muslim organisations to offer ‘sharbat’ and cold water to processionists.
The first big procession with Tazias and Alams was taken out in the afternoon from Haji Ismail and Hadi Begum imambaras, Colonelganj. This procession reached Gwaltoli Karbala and was led by Nawab Nadir Hussain and Kalbe Hasan. The biggest procession was that of Anjuman-e-Rizvia which was taken out from the historic Imambara of Nawab Muzaffar Hussain.
Similar procession were also taken out from all parts of the city by variousAnjumans like Raza e-e Islam, Jafariya, Mazloomia, Firdausia, Mohammadi, Shabbiria, Shaseer-e-Haideri, nasirul man. During processions, the mourners also performed ‘matams’ with swords and knives. The Husaini Foundation set up stalls at both the Gwaltoli and Nawabganj Karbalas to serve sharbat and water to the mourners. Till late in the evening, Tazias were being buried at both the Karbalas.
