The oldest member of the tour party, Dawson is enjoying an Indian summer in international cricket.
A member of South Africa's gold medal team at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, he was chosen for the following year's World Cup in England but didn't make a single appearance in the tournament.
It looked like his moment had passed but Dawson continued performing consistently well in domestic cricket and was recalled to the squad for last year's Champions Trophy in Sri Lanka.
The elevation of provincial team-mate Graeme Smith to the captaincy saw him recalled again for the post-World Cup tour to Bangladesh where he finally made his Test debut at the age of 33.
