Alka was probably killed by acquaintance

POLICE BELIEVE that someone who was known to Alka killed her most probably within hours of her husband leaving for the USA. Alka Barsagre’s body bearing marks on the throat was found in her apartment - Flat No 203, Geetanjali Apartment, Scheme No 54 by her relatives yesterday afternoon.
In the short post mortem report the cause of death has been given as strangulation. Alka’s naked body was found in the kitchen with a wire across her throat. The killer had also used a piece of cloth and an iron rod to strangulate her. After killing her he had taken away her mobile and her two-wheeler (Honda Activa). Alka’s husband Hemant had left for USA, via Mumbai on August 24. The police have contacted him and told him about the incident, and he is returning tomorrow to Indore. The investigation will pick up pace once he comes in.
Alka and Hemant had been married one and half years ago. While Alka’s parents were agreeable to the marriage, Hemant’s parents were against it. They had not come for the wedding and neither did they come to see the body.
Dhaba owner shot at
THREE YOUTHS on a motorcycle shot at owner of a dhaba at the Roshansingh Bhandari Marg last night. Tukoganj police said that Chhotelal was just closing his dhaba at around 12.30 am when three youths on a motorcycle came and fired at him with countrymade pistols.
Chhotelal had to run inside the dhaba to save himself, and he escaped injuries. Police have registered attempted murder cases against Vikram alias Vikka, Manoj and Rajendra Pal all from Goma Ki Phel in this connection.
BSF jawan thrashed
A BSF jawan was beaten up by people in the Ambikapuri area last night after he molested a woman. Later, a report was lodged at the Aerodrome police station against unknown BSF jawan in this connection.
