Allies formalise name
Cong-led alliance formally assumed the name of United Progressive Alliance.

The newly formed Congress-led coalition, which is expected to assume office at the Centre on Wednesday, has been named as Progressive Alliance (UPA).
Senior Congress leader Manmohan Singh gave the name of the new coalition, while making a detailed statement on the stock market crash on Monday.
Singh is widely perceived to be the Finance Minister in the Sonia Gandhi-led coalition Government.
