SmarTech Markets Publishing estimates sales of 3D printers, services and software at $1.8 billion in 2013, a figure that could nearly triple in five years to $5.1 billion by 2018. Given the current price of this cutting-edge equipment, the target market for now is mainly confined to professional buyers such as schools, universities and medical facilities.
