Ambala man robbed of Rs2 lakh, gold ornaments

The victim, identified as Prem Kumar, is a resident of Ismailabad village of the district. He said he was on his way to the State Bank of Patiala on the Karachi Road to deposit Rs 2 lakh he was carrying in a bag.

In his police complaint, he alleged that two persons impersonating policemen approached him and suggested him to put his gold bangle (kara) and a chain in his bag, keeping in view the increasing crime.

He alleged that as soon as he kept his gold ornaments in the bag, which already contained Rs 2 lakh, two men came on a motorcycle and fled with his bag.

Officials at the police post no 2 said that they were investigating the complaint.
