Now the draft plan will be prepared at the division level and after recommendation of the minister-in-charge of the district it will be sent to the Government for sanction. During a meeting with officials at the Vikas Bhawan auditorium on Tuesday the DM directed for raising the proposed expenditure for rain water harvesting by ten times. He also asked the district horticulture officer to prepare an ambitious plan for ponds wherein 1000 ponds to be dug up for the purpose of rearing fish.
The DM also formed a team of the officials of horticulture, forest, fisheries and revenue departments and headed by the chief development officer which will prepare a massive work plan and submit it before the DM within seven days.
Under this work plan the encroachment from ponds will be removed followed by their deepening by the development department. Thereafter fish rearing will be undertaken in them.
The DM also directed the divisional forest officer for digging new ponds in their forest division and setting up of five district forest ranges besides installation of 20,000 tree guards in city areas. The DM has also sought a proposal for establishing a forest research institute in the district.
For the purpose of soil conservation the DM has made a provision of Rs 2 crore for construction of check dams while a provision of Rs 1.68 crore has been made for paying honorarium to Shiksha Mitras engaged in primary schools.
With a view to provide better facilities to sportsmen a provision of Rs 15 lakh has been made for synthetic flooring of badminton courts in Mayo Hall sports complex.
The DM has also asked the Parag Dairy officials to open milk booths at the main petrol pumps.
