NO MAJOR incidents of clash were reported in the district during Holi. However, a 40-year-old pregnant woman was declared brought dead at a hospital after she sustained skull injuries in an assault. In another incident, a constable who had sustained injuries in an accident succumbed to his injuries at the SRN hospital early this morning. His body was brought to the police lines from where following a guard of honour was sent to his native place in Phaphamau. On the other hand some minor incident of clash were reported from Khuldabad and Soraon .

In another incident, a constable who had sustained injuries in an accident succumbed to his injuries at the SRN hospital early this morning. On the other hand some minor incident of clash were reported from Khuldabad and Soraon but police did not register them and let off people after warning them.

Ram Lakhan, resident of Rasar village under Handia police station had gone to meet his uncle last evening, reportedly, in a drunken condition. What transpired between him and his uncle's two sons could not be known but sources said, his uncle Jangali's sons Laxman and Munna started assaulting him. Meanwhile, Ram Lakhan's pregnant wife Phot Devi and mother who rushed to save him were also assaulted with a cricket bat. This resulted in injuries to them. While they were being taken to a nursing home in Baraut Photo Devi succumbed to her injuries, police said.

Police lodged a case under section 304,323,504, 506 IPC against the two brothers Laxman and Munna. No arrest was reported in this case.

Rajesh Kumar Yadav, a constable posted in Pratapgarh was admitted to the SRN hospital after he, reportedly, sustained injuries while chasing a miscreant on his mobike. His mobike was hit by the miscreant's mobike following which he fell and sustained critical head injuries.

A home guard Shiva nand Misra who was on the pillion of the constables mobike was also injured. while the constable died today the home guard was still being treated for his injuries.

Holi revelers brandished knives in Khuldabad following a clash between them. However, cops reached the place on getting information and, reportedly, brought the situation under control. Some persons were also brought to the police station but were let off after a few hours.

Meanwhile, by and large police presence in large numbers in all the areas is reported to have gone a long way in preventing occurrence of any major incident during the festival of holi this time.
