The team first raided Dr SK Biswas Rahul Clinic at Nyaya Nagar gate. The clinic was found closed and Dr SK Biswas, who was suspected to be practicing medicine without any medical degree, was missing from the clinic.

The team also raided his other clinic at Chatnag Road. His family members were present at the clinic. Since no doctor was found at the clinic, the team asked the family members to submit the copy of registration number and medical degree to the CMO office.

The team also found that Vandana Clinic at Chatnag Road was run by a woman and her assistant, without any medical degree. The name of three doctors were painted outside the clinic, but none were present during the time of raid.

When the team inquired, the woman told that the doctors would be soon arriving and that they were only assistant to the doctors. However, local residents informed that the clinic was run by the woman and her assistant.

The team sealed the clinic and asked the woman to produce approved medical degree and other certificates of the doctors practicing at the Vandana Clinic.

"We have also planned to raid the other clinic of Dr SK Biswas in Handia. Few local people informed that Dr Biswas deserted his Handia clinic about a year back and opened a new clinic in Handia with other name," said Dr VK Mishra, one of the team members. Dr Mishra said the department has decided to intensify anti-quack raids in the district.

"The quacks and unauthorised practitioners have been identified with the help of CHCs and PHCs. The raids will be conducted on their clinics, to close them down and take further action against the unauthorised practitioners," he added.

Senior health department staff CL Gupta was also present in the anti-quack raid team.
