The anti-quota group has announced their intention to invoke the Right to Information Act (RTI) against Union Health Minister Anbumani Ramadoss for "misusing" his powers as the President of AIIMS.

Claiming that the minister's position as president of AIIMS came under the 'Office of Profit' category, the 'Youth for Equality' (YFE) said that it would file the application on Tuesday seeking clarification on how he could avail the facilities provided by the institute.

"The Health Minister of the country automatically becomes the president of AIIMS, but the AIIMS office falls under the Office of Profit Act. So we want to know how he cannot avail the facilities of the institute," YFE member Jitin said.

The forum had earlier spearheaded the campaign against the Centre's decision to implement reservation for OBCs in higher education institutions.

"The minister has used the AIIMS' guesthouse for himself as well as his relatives. Apart from a lot of indirect benefits, he has also appointed OSDs and introduced quite a number of his relatives to the AIIMS' governing body," he claimed.

The members further challenged Ramadoss's capacity to treat patients at AIIMS while the in-house medicos were on a strike.

"How could he treat patients at AIIMS just like that? Does that mean that any doctor can come and start practising in the institute?," asked the members.
