Reviewing the preparations of different departments, the newly appointed Mela incharge, Ramendra Tripathi at a meeting at Mela office here on Monday said that three nayab tehsildars have been engaged in survey work to be completed by June 15. The work like drafting of layout plan, removal of encroachment and acquisition of land would be done before the start of monsoon season.

He said that all the preparations would be done on the pattern of Kumbh mela-2001. The Government has allotted Rs 136 crore as grant for the coming mela.

Entire mela area would be divided into sectors in which every sector would be given all basic facilities. Health, PWD and UP Power Corporation have already started their preparations, said Tripathi.

He directed the departments concerned to chalk out plans before approaching for grants. Tripathi disclosed that a project Rs 24 crore had been sanctioned for the Salori Nullah. However the work has not started as yet because of some dispute over land.

Meanwhile temporary arrangement was being made to divert the nullah water from falling into Ganga uptil Ardha Kumbha mela. More water would be released in Ganga from Narora during the Ardha Kumbh, said the mela incharge. A total of 18 pontoon bridges would be constructed in mela area as during Kumbh mela-2001.
