ARERA SPORTS Academy today drubbed VNS XI on the inaugural day of the 5th All India Mayank Chaturvedi Memorial Cricket Tournament being organised at Old Campion Grounds. Hindustan Times is sponsoring the tournament.

Playing on the home ground, Arera team faced no problem in beating the VNS team. As the Arera Academy knew that the moisture available at the wicket in the morning would help the seamers, team’s skipper invited VNS to bat first after winning the toss.

The decision went in the favour of the captain as the team managed to pack off the opponent on a small score of 106 in 29 overs.

The all famous Sunil Pandey and Sumit Taneja of Arera Sports with their brilliant bowling made things difficult for the VNS all through the inning. The two took seven wickets. For the VNS team, Devendra and Amar scored 19 and 17 respectively.

In reply, Arera team equalled the target with the help of quick-fire 70 off 40 deliveries by Jyotiraditya Singh. The team won the match without losing any wicket.

Earlier, PHE Minister Rampal Singh inaugurated the tournament. Bhopal Development Authority (BDA) chairman Dhruv Narayan Singh presided over the function. Speaking on the occasion, Minister said that all efforts would be made to give support for the development of Old Campion Grounds.

On the occasion, Hindustan Times General Manager Fehmi Hussain, Yogendra Chaturvedi, BJP district president Surendra Nath Singh, BDCA vice-president Aruneshwar Singh Deo, Brijesh Lunawat, Indian Oil Corporation Senior Finance Manager D Ganesh and others were present.
