STATE CONGRESS president Subhash Yadav demanded the arrest of BJP divisional organisation secretary Arvind Menon here today, for his alleged involvement in the murder of Vijendra Singh Bhati on February 5.

Meanwhile, the City Congress has announced that they would hold a demonstration at the SP office tomorrow at 4 pm demanding an impartial inquiry into the matter, and arrest of those responsible for manipulating with the evidence.

The matter had been raised yesterday by former Congress Minister Sajjan Singh Verma and leader of the Opposition Jamuna Devi in the Assembly during Zero Hour.

Talking to newspersons at his Old Palasia residence before leaving for Bhopal, he alleged that Menon was involved in giving protection to Vijendra Singh Bhati alias Shravan who murdered his father Meherban Singh.

He alleged that Sharvan is an IMC employee, yet works full time at the BJP party office. After committing the murder, Shravan was hidden for three days at the BJP party office and Menon also helped in disposing off the body in his vehicle. Yadav alleged that the senior police officers and BJP party officials were well aware of these facts but they twisted the tale to protect Menon.

Yadav demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter and said only then would the truth come out. He said State Congress Committee would write to the Governor regarding the matter.

He alleged that BJP was running the State for the benefit of the party and they had taken back all cases in which their workers had been involved. Yadav said this was a dangerous game and would take the State on the lines of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. He said the police and administration was being run not by the Chief Minister, but by the Sangh and Bajrang Dal.

On question of when the new City Congress president would be announced, he said that everything would be clear by March end. On the question of alleged criminal record of District Congress Committee president Hemant Pal, Yadav said that he would have to look into the matter.

City Congress vice-president K K Mishra said that Shravan was being protected by the BJP leaders as he knew some of the wrongdoings of the senior BJP leaders. He said that senior police officers had got the vehicle in which the body was being carried released, otherwise on that day itself the case would have been registered against Menon.
