Assam blast: 100 picked up for questioning

An Improvised Explosive Device exploded at around 6 pm on Thursday evening injuring 20 people including children.

Over 100 people have been picked up in overnight operations in connection with Thursday evening's bomb blast which injured 20 people.

City Additional Superintendent of Police Rajen Singh said that the persons suspected to be connected to the explosion were picked up from different areas of Guwahati and their interrogation was on.

Security has been tightened in and around the city, particularly in the crowded localities and at vital installations, Singh said.

The injured were undergoing treatment in hospitals, he said, adding that two of them were seriously wounded.
