Asst Solicitor Gen directed to take notice on airport safety

The Karnataka High Court today directed the Assistant Solicitor General to take notice on behalf of Union Government and others on a PIL seeking directions to the Civil Aviation Ministry for implementation of aircraft rules for passengers' safety.

The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the Assistant Solicitor General to take notice on behalf of Union Government and others on a PIL seeking directions to the Civil Aviation Ministry for implementation of aircraft rules for passengers' safety.

A Division Bench, comprising Justice NK Patil and AS Bopanna,directed the Assistant Solicitor General Kalyan Basavaraj to take notice.

The Airports Authority of India sought time to file objections and the hearing of the petition was adjourned.

Notices were issued to Secretary, Civil Aviation, Director General Civil Aviation and Chairman, Airport Authority of India.

Advocate GR Mohan had filed the PIL in the aftermath of the May 22 Air India Express crash at Mangalore in which 158 persons were killed.
