Attempt to spoil heritage look of Kashi Temple

MANAGEMENT OF the ancient Kashi Vishwanath Temple situated in the Gyanwapi Complex has fallen victim to the bureaucracy. A conspiracy is being hatched out to spoil the old, historical and natural look of the temple walls with chemical painting violating the guidelines of the Supreme Court. It is a criminal act in the name of beautification, said former State Minister and SP leader Shatrudra Prakash.

Talking to the mediapersons on Monday, Prakash lashed out at the administrative temple management and said massive financial irregularities were suspected by the government officials, as accounts had not been made public.

Both manual and computerised balance sheets were being maintained to keep tab of the donations and income of the temple.

He said, the audited manual balance sheet of accounts was being sent to the government. There was no proper information regarding the income and expenditure for the temple.

Reacting sharply over the fixation of a cliff on the temple wall projecting the divisional commissioner as the chairman of Kashi Vishwanath Mandir Nyas and Dr Daya Ram Tripathi the chief executive officer of the temple, he said, the State government had not appointed them officially.

Former King of Benaras, Dr Vibhuti Narian Singh, had been the chairman of Nyas life-long but his name never figured anywhere on the temple premises.
