Student leader Abhishek Shukla said caste-based reservation would lead to greater unemployment and force students to do menial jobs.
He appealed to the government not to implement caste-based reservation.
He said economic status should be the basis for reservation. Student leader Sunil Dwivedi, Praveen Shukla, Pradeep Dwivedi, Vikas Tripathi and Durgesh Pandey said caste- based reservation would divide the society and students would launch a nationwide stir.
Those present on the occasion were Vinay Shukla, Pawan Singh, Ashwini Dubey, Ashu Pandey, Abhay Mishra and Atul Tripathi among others.
NSUI clarification: National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) office-bearers denied any involvement in anti-quota protests and the burning of HRD Minister Arjun Singh’s effigy on the AU campus on Wednesday. The office-bearers said some people had resorted to the act to defame NSUI activists. NSUI district president Akmal Imam presided over the meeting and said those who claimed the NSUI supported the protest were motivated by anti-Congress elements.
