Author Gulam Nabi Aatish gets Sahitya Akademi award

Noted Kashmiri writer and poet Gulam Nabi Aatish's book “Nov Kehtsha Mentsha” has bagged the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award in the best children's literature category.

“The award will be conferred on Aatish, author of over 20 books, at Kolkota on Children's Day,” Kashmiri Advisory Board convener Aziz Hajni said in a statement in Srinagar.

The award comprises a cash prize of Rs 51,000, a citation and a robe of honour.

“Nov Kehtsha Mentsha”, which means something new, is likely to be translated in over 12 languages.
