REBEL SAMAJWADI Party MP from Agra Raj Babbar handed over two dozen CDs to Governor TV Rajeswar on Thursday.

After meeting the Governor, Babbar described the contents of the CDs as explosive and a threat to law and order in the State.

He demanded a ban on the entry of SP general secretary Amar Singh and a CBI probe against him.

Babbar said that clashes could not be stopped if the contents of these CDs, which had a total running time of 20 hours, were made public. He alleged that most of the discussions in the CDs were between Amar Singh and Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav. He also said even though the Supreme Court had banned publication of the transcript of one CD, social organisations should come forward to take up the issue, which was a must for the security of the State.

Reiterating his charge that Amar Singh was acting as a “dalal”, Babbar said there was no respect for the grassroots workers of the party. He said if “dalal culture” continued in the State, the SP would have no worker to run the organisation. He added the present government should go at the earliest. Denying that he was trying to fish in troubled political waters, Babbar said he was concerned about the welfare of the State after listening to these CDs for nearly seven hours. He said that there were references to the RSS chief in the CD, but that appeared to be pre-Mau riots.

He said though the SP had been publicly opposing the visit of US President George Bush, Amar Singh was making efforts to bring Laura Bush to Noida. He said this exposed the double face of the party. He also said involvement of “dalal type” of people in the formation and running of the State Government could prove disastrous for UP.
