Batch of 575 pilgrims leave for Amarnath

Amid tight security, a fresh batch of 575 pilgrims today left for 3,888-metre high Amarnath cave shrine situated in south Kashmir Himalayas.

Amid tight security, a fresh batch of 575 pilgrims today left for 3,888-metre high Amarnath cave shrine situated in south Kashmir Himalayas.

The pilgrims comprising 388 men, 87 women, 10 children and 90 sadhus left in a cavalcade of 20 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu at around 0500 hours for Amarnath, police said.

The convoy of yatra has already crossed Chenani on Jammu-Srinagar National highway towards base camps of Pahalgam in the Kashmir Valley.

With today's batch, as many as 91,123 pilgrims have left Jammu for their onward journey to Amarnath cave shrine.

Meanwhile, sixth batch of 214 pilgrims for Buddha Amarnath Yatra comprising of 120 men, 64 women, 21 children left in a cavalcade of 6 vehicles from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu city.
