Skipper Sourav Ganguly on Thursday said the 15-member Indian squad selected for the first two Tests against Australia was the best possible team at this stage.

"This is the best possible team at this stage," he told reporters after the announcement following a selection committee meeting of which he was a part.
"It is disappointing to leave out Ashish Nehra," he said and indicated that Ajit Agarkar got the nod ahead of him because his performance against Australia in the away series was good.
He said Sachin Tendulkar, who has been out of action in the recent weeks because of a tennis elbow injury, would join the team in Bangalore on October 3.
"We will monitor his fitness on a daily basis. Let's see how he will do," Ganguly added.
