Bhattacharjee stresses on human resources development

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on Wednesday stressed on the development of human resources.

"There is a need for human resources development through proper education. Without the human resources development the development of agriculture and industry will not yield anything," Bhattacharjee said after inaugurating a water treatment plant in Kalyani.

The Chief Minister asked the municipalities and panchayats to look beyond there specific issues with a view to help the poor.

The municipalities and panchayats should provide education, nutrition and sanitation to the poor, he said.

Speaking on the occasion West Bengal Municipal Affairs and Urban Development minister Ashok Bhattacharya said various urban bodies have taken projects for Rs 6700 crore out of which around Rs 3700 would be spent on development of the slums in various parts of the state.

Others, who spoke on the occasion were minister Bankim Ghosh, MP Alokesh Das and Kalyani Municipality chairman Shantanu Jha.

The water treatment plant set up on a 30 acre land will treat 300 gallon of water.
