Around 2750 candidates, who were short-listed in the screening test, appeared in the main examination at five centers, including Mahila Mahavidyalaya, social science faculty, arts faculty, commerce faculty and Ayurveda faculty from 9.30 am to 12.30 pm on BHU campus.

There are 55 seats for undergraduate courses at IMS-BHU and therefore around 50 candidates appeared for each seat.

As a precautionary measure, the identification of candidates was made through their thumb impression. No candidate was allowed to carry electronic gadgets into the examination centre.

BHU administration arranged two buses from main gate to examination centres for the convenience of candidates from 6 am today. Besides, two makeshift waiting halls were set up near Mahila Mahavidyalaya centre and Maitri Jalpan Grih for the parents of the candidates.

A total of 20 observers were deployed to ensure a smooth and peaceful conduct of this prestigious all India level medical entrance examination. A special squad consisting of senior faculty members of IMS-BHU kept a close vigil over the entire examination process.

In charge of PMT examination and faculty member of microbiology department at IMS-BHU, Prof. AK Gulati said that the PMT entrance examination was conducted peacefully today. He further expressed hope that the results of main examination would be declared within one week.

All the five centres were sealed during the examination. “No untoward incident was reported from any centre during PMT main examination today,” said chief proctor of BHU, Prof. SK Singh.
