Biased criticism

The article Moods of Modi (July 10) by Ruchir Joshi is not only a deliberate attempt to portray the Chief Minister of Gujarat in bad light but is also in poor taste.

The article Moods of Modi (July 10) by Ruchir Joshi is not only a deliberate attempt to portray the Chief Minister of Gujarat in bad light but is also in poor taste. A simple attempt by the government to reduce unwanted births and stop the spread of Aids has been stretched beyond limits to portray Narendra Modi as someone who does not give protection to the people. It need not necessarily mean that the product is being used by the Chief Minister. The comments and criticism are clearly a projection of the writer’s bias.

Beware of US policy

Apropos of Trick and treat (July 18), India should be careful while dealing with the US. If the US does not stop supplying weapons to Pakistan, India will continue to face threats like 11/7.

II

Pulling out of the peace process with Pakistan after the terror attack would be
irresponsible. The peace process has borne fruit because of the tremendous investment made by the people, artists, politicians and governments of the two countries. It should not go in vain.

Holes in security

It was embarrassing to see the front page picture (July 17) of media vans gathered at India Gate due to a bomb hoax. In such situations, the security forces should act to dispel the crisis instead of informing the media. The capital has become a soft target for miscreants. After each incident, we form a new committee but forget all about it once the terror clouds are passed. Why don’t we adopt new security and scanning arrangements to pre-empt terrorists’ plans?

System failure

Apropos of SC slams govt, unshackles bulldozers (July 18), there are some disturbing tendencies like common people including RWAs having a vested interest in the continuation of demolitions and sealing. The courts have turned this into an ego issue and are more concerned about their orders not being followed than with bringing relief to the people of Delhi. If a handful of people can block the well-being of society, it is the failure of the whole system.
