The two have been identified as Mubbin, 28, of Tijhara in Rajasthan, and Shabbir, 26. Several cases of robbery and theft have been registered against them, the police said.

Shabbir shot in his left thigh to escape arrest and was admitted to a private hospital in Gurgaon. “The bullet has been removed from his leg and he is out of danger,” said a doctor. Mubbin was on Tuesday produced before a court, which sent him to a four-day police custody.

Mubbin, who is carrying a reward of Rs. 50,000 on his head, was wanted by the Rajasthan police. There was a robbery in 2010 in Rajasthan where copper worth Rs. 80 lakh was robbed by Mubbin’s gang. His friend Shabbir is also wanted in many cases.

DCP (crime) Maheshwar Dayal said, “We have recovered one country-made pistol, four live cartridges and a bike from them. Mubbin was wanted in many cases. We are trying to find out what had they panned to rob on Monday night.”
