March 2006: Bitti Mohanty arrested on charges of raping a 26-year-old German research student in a hotel in Alvar, Rajasthan.

March 2006: After 24-day trial, Bitti Mohanty sentenced to seven years by a Rajasthan court for raping a German tourist.

November 2006: Bitti Mohant jumps 15-day parole he got to meet his ailing mother in Cuttack. A non-bailable warrant issued against him.

January 2008: former Odisha DGP BB Mohanty who went underground after son Bitti's escape, surrendered. Bitti remained untraceable.

2011: Bitti secured an MBA degree from a management institute in Kannur.

2012: Bitti appeared for a banking recruitment service examination in Andhra Pradash and was appointed as probationary officer.

March 2013: Bitti arrested by Kerala police in Kannur. He was working in State Bank of Travancore as a probationary officer under an alias. He was nabbed after the bank got an anonymous letter last week revealing his real identity.
