THROUGH DSL Broadband Internet connection, Airtel Landline has announced a customised package ‘Turbo Starter 256’ plan with high-speed of 256 kbps that allows fast transfer of data than the usual dialup connection. The plan is offered with a waiver on the monthly rental for the first two months for every new connection.

Users going for ‘Turbo Starter Pack 256’- a top up plan will have Internet services free for two months till a usage of 400 MB. Targeted at heavy users, the plan offers most competitive rates in the market along with 256 kbps connectivity, which allows fast transfer of data. With a waiver on the rental of Rs 250 per month, the users will just pay the usage charges, if any beyond 400 MB and the modem rental.

Any usage beyond this will be charged at the rate of Rs 1.40/MB. Customers will be provided with one e-mail ID with 10MB space. The service can be used for heavy downloads like video streaming, downloading music and procuring data.

Central Bank revises interest rates

CENTRAL BANK of India has announced a revision in the interest rates on FCNR-B, RFC and NRE Deposits with effect from January 1. Except for deposits denominated in Great Britain Pound and Australian Dollar (except for maturity period of 1 year to less than 2 years), the Bank has hiked interest rates on deposits for all maturities denominated in USD, EUR and Canadian Dollar.

Interest rate on deposit denominated in Australian Dollar for maturity period of 1 year to less than 2 years has also been hiked. Revised rate of interest on US Dollar denominated deposit has been hiked to 4.59 per cent, 4.64 per cent, 4.63 per cent, 4.64 per cent and 4.65 per cent for maturity periods of 1 year to less than 2 years, 2 years to less than 3 years, 3 years to less than 4 year.
