TAKING NOTE of the incidents involving fracas between BMC officials and corporators, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today asked its corporators to behave.

They were told to avoid any clash with officials at public place. In two cases, the BMC administration filed FIRs against BJP corporators.
BJP’s divisional organisation secretary Vijay Sharma also reviewed functioning of the corporators in the past one year. The corporators were summoned zone-wise. Meetings continued from 9 am till evening.
Some of the corporators complained regarding differences among them. They also charged their leaders including leader of the BJP corporators’ group Ashok Pandey and BMC chairman Ramdayal Prajpati with turning deaf ear to their problems.
The corporators said that these leaders support wrongdoings of officials instead of raising their (corporators’) problems. Most of the funds under the developmental schemes have not been allotted to their wards.
On the other hand, Ashok Pandey told senior party leaders that some of the corporators exert undue pressure on officials resulting in such clashes.
It is learnt that Pandey also named some corporators for involvement in illegal activities. The corporators also complained that the officials are inattentive to their problems and delay clearing their files.
Sharma told the corporators to work in coordination with officials. There should not be direct confrontation with the officials, he said.
The BJP divisional organisation secretary told the corporators that such incidents harm image of the party.
He asked them to register their complaints with senior party leaders instead of taking direct action. He also told to sort out problems of party workers in their wards.
Sharma also asked for specific problems of their wards. He reviewed the works carried out by corporators in their wards during past one year.
