BJP has annexed several Cong bastions winning five LS seats out of 28 and notching up comfortable leads in 12 others.

Banking on the Vajpayee factor coupled with the anti-incumbency against the ruling Congress, BJP on Thursday annexed several Congress bastions winning five Lok Sabha seats out of 28 and notching up comfortable leads in 12 others.

Putting up an impressive show that stunned the Congress in simultaneous polls for Parliament and assembly, BJP established its supremacy in an expected performance.

The saffron party retained the Chikmagalur seat when its nominee DC Srikantappa, carved out his third successive win and Mangalore, where VD Sadananda Gouda, made maiden entry into Lok Sabha defeating former Karnataka Chief Minister M Veerappa Moily.
