The announcememt was made at the BJP’s Mumbai convention on Thursday. “Atal Bihari Vajpayee is the only leader in the BJP who is competent. LK Advani and Pramod Mahajan do not have the potential to unite party members,” Dr Pandey told mediapersons here on Friday.
He termed Vajpayee’s decision as “fleeing from the political battle” and said the BJP would not survive in future.
He also levelled several allegations of corruption on BJP leaders. “If the UPA sets up an inquiry commission to investigate the work of BJP leaders during the regime of the NDA Government, several BJP leaders will be put behind bars for charges of corruption and irregularities,” he said.
Lauding the Congress for its successful rally at Lucknow, he said it was an initiative to break the intention of secessionist forces in Uttar Pradesh.
He further said Sonia Gandhi, Rahul and Priyanka should tour the State to instill energy and enthusiasm among the Congress workers.
“A grand dharna will be organised under his leadership in Varanasi on January 4 against criminalisation of politics and corruption,” he said.
The AICC member said he would raise the demand to hold a UP Congress convention in Varanasi during the AICC convention, scheduled to be organised at Hyderabad from January 21 to 23. “More than 5,000 Congress workers will participate in the party’s convention from Varanasi and Mirzapur,” he added.
