
BJP slammed for accepting donations from Dow
Leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly, Jamuna Devi, has sought explanation from the BJP for accepting donations from Dow Chemicals, the company which owns Union Carbide's Bhopal plant that had killed over 3000 people following a gas leak dissaster in the year 1984.
The information about accepting donation from Dow Chemicals by the BJP in the year 2006-07 came out through the exercise of Right to Information (RTI) Act, a release issued by Devi said in Bhopal on Friday.
Terming it as a 'crude joke' with the people of Bhopal who have suffered the world's worst industrial disaster, Devi demanded an explanation from the BJP that why it has accepted the donation from a company which has caused irrepairable damages to thousands of people of the city of lakes besides causing permanent damages to the environment and water of the city.
She also wanted to know what type of relations the party has with the company, which is not ready to compensate to the affected persons, the release added.
