The BJP legislature party at its emergency meeting held here, resolved to depute the state unit President DV Sadananda Gowda and Deputy Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa to hold talks with JDS chief HD Devegowda seeking support to Shekhawat.
JDS is yet to make public its stand on the presidential elections.
The meeting decided not to attach any importance to the statement by Housing Minister DT Jayakumar of JDS that Yediyurappa is "incompetent" to run the government, apparently opposing power transfer to BJP.
Gowda speaking to reporters after the meeting, said it expressed full faith in Yediyurappa's leadership and exuded confidence that Chief Minister Kumaraswamy will honour his assurance on power transfer.
