Carrying placards and raising anti-government slogans, they marched through the main markets of the city and reached the mini-secretariat where they held a demonstration in front of the Deputy Commissioner's office.
Speakers at the rally criticised both the Central and the state governments for their alleged failure on all the fronts, including rise in prices of essential commodities.
The BJP also alleged the law and order had deteriorated ever since the Congress assumed power in the state.
Later, the BJP workers submitted a memorandum to the district authorities urging the government to take immediate and effective steps to check the price-rise and ensure regular supply of power and water in the industrial and agricultural sectors.
