Suspected ULFA militants triggered a powerful blast in a gas pipeline of the Oil India Limited (OIL) at Dhekulajan under Tengakhat police station in Tinsukia district on Saturday night.

OIL sources said the blast took place at about 10.10 pm at the oil collection site (OCS) between Tengakhat and Dhuliajan, the headquarters of the OIL.
There was no immediate report of any casualty or injury as the pipeline is away from human habitation, the sources said.
Personnel of the fire brigade, police and OIL have rushed to the spot and flow of gas was stopped through the affected pipeline.
The towering flame sparked panic among nearby villagers who started fleeing the area.
