Harry Potter, the boy wizard, has beaten US President George W Bush and the late Pope John Paul II to be named the ‘Most Blogged Person’ of 2005.

In the poll conducted by the website blogpulse, which scoured a year’s worth of Internet posts, files and links collectively known as blogs to create their Top 25, the fictional Potter managed to defeat both the US President and the Pope who came in second and third, respectively.

Singers Britney Spears, at fourth, and the troubled 'King of Pop' Michael Jackson, who was placed fifth, were apparently more interesting than Hollywood megastars Johnny Depp and Tom Cruise who came in sixth and seventh.

Terri Schiavo, the 41-year-old brain-damaged woman who became the centrepiece of a national right-to-die battle in the US came in eighth, while Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt was ninth on the list. Karl Rove, US President George W. Bush’s senior advisor, accused of unauthorised disclosure in espionage case, rounded off the top ten.
