Bloopers galore

MEA's booklet lists India, Pak and Sri Lanka in developed economies. While India and Pakistan are developing nations, Sri Lanka is a low-ranking mid-income economy.

A media information booklet issued by the MEA contains plenty of incorrect information. It states the date of Saarc’s inception as '8th December 2005 at Dhaka', but on the next page, lists the dates and venues of the various summits, starting from the first in Dhaka in 1985.

There is also a dose of wishful thinking – it lists India (as well as Pakistan and Sri Lanka) amidst developed economies. India and Pakistan are developing countries, while Sri Lanka is at best a low-ranking mid-income economy.
