Pandey said India had had friendly ties with South Africa ever since Mahatma Gandhi started his satyagraha movement from there.

He said that both South Africa and India shared a common history. The British once ruled both the countries and even today both the nation faced common challenges. Pandey was of the view that the arrival of the SA delegation in India would further strengthen the relations between the two nations.

The SA team was elated with the hospitality extended by the Speaker and thanked him.

The delegation visited the GPO Park where the members garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi. Essop Pahad, Minister for Communication and Information and other members took off their shoes before garlanding the statue of the Father of the Nation. The delegation also participated in the pulse polio awareness rally.
