In a bizarre incident, his school senior in Tripura beat an eight-year-old student to death, officials said on Wednesday.

The incident happened on Tuesday when the two boys had a quarrel while they were returning from school at Sabroom village, 135 km from here.

Surjya Paul, class 5 students punched and hit Apan Das, a class 2 student with a bamboo stick injuring him seriously. Das succumbed to his injuries on way to the hospital, police said.

Police have registered a case and are looking for Paul, who is absconding.
