Arsalan Bashir, a resident of Eidgah in old Srinagar, was rushed to the Shri Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital by his parents where he was declared brought dead on Saturday evening.
The police said the boy was watching TV with his two younger sisters when he tried to imitate a scene.
“The boy’s mother told us that the children were watching TV in a room. The boy had climbed the top floor of the house where he accidentally strangled himself. His neck bore distinct rope marks,” said RP Singh, station house officer of Safakadal police station.
The officer said that they are investigating every angle of the case.
“We have registered a case of death under suspicious conditions and are taking nothing for granted,” he said.
