Apropos of Sitaram Yechury’s Faith accompli (June 12), people like him are determined to tarnish faith, whatever the occasion. After thousands of years, the setu has aligned with the geographical plates in the sea. This has been seized upon by politicians like Yechury to say that the structure is not man-made. For most Indians, Lord Rama is the principal deity. It’s a pity that power-hungry politicians are trying to destroy the very faith that originated in this land.

The myth regarding Ram Setu which says that a monkey brigade had to work overtime to raise a bridge is not accepted by archaeologists. It is time myth gave way to scientific truth.
