This was stated by BSNL general manager P K Srivastva in his first ever Press conference held at his office here on Monday. He said special arrangements were being made to clear the traffic congestion on line for the Mauni Amavasya day.

Srivastava said, the company was continuously trying to provide quality service to the users. “Though I cannot make big claims of having provided perfect service but all attempts have been made in this direction. Since I have taken over the charge I have pointed out my clear cut priorities to my subordinates that nothing would be compromised when it comes to quality,” he said.

He disclosed that his department had chalked out a plan to provide better facilities in the Magh Mela area where 13 telephone connections had been given to government departments. A total of 11 PCOs were functioning at present.

Besides, two exchanges were also opened in the mela area.

He informed that new telephone exchanges were being set up at seven places in the city which included, Traffic Police Crossing, Salori, Tularambagh, Chowk, Hindi Sahitya Sammelan, Khuldabad, Roshanbagh and Chhota Baghara. All outdated E-10 telephone exchanges in the city would be replaced with the latest technology exchanges soon. In this series, Ranimandi exchange would be the first where work would be completed this month.

He said, the city had as many as 1,16,418 pre-paid and 23,703 post-paid customers. Considering the network problem, the department had already set up 76 base terminus stations (BTS) in the city while 33 in rural areas. Besides, 66 new towers in city area and 26 new BTS in rural area would be set up in this financial year, he said.

There were 4,469 waiting applications in rural areas for landline phones thus the department would pay special emphasis to provide them connections within three months, he added.
