Buddhadeb declares assets

West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhatarcharjee, seeking re-election from Jadavpur constituency of Kolkata, has declared that he owns assets worth Rs 16 lakh and has no house or car.
The 62-year-old Bhattacharjee, Chief Minister for the past six years, in his declaration of assets and liabilities filed along with the nomination papers has submitted that he neither owns agricultural nor non-agricultural land in the state and does not have a house of his own.
Bhattacharjee, known for his simple living, stays in a three-room flat in a state government owned complex in Ballygunge area.
As per Bhattacharjee's declaration, he has Rs 3,550 cash and Rs 12,046 in a joint bank account with his daughter Suchetana Bhattacharjee.
The Chief Minister has Rs 6.3 lakh in PPF, Rs 1.2 lakh in Post Office deposit and other small deposits, the total amount being Rs 9.5 lakh, according to the declaration.
Bhattacharjee submitted that he also has 685 grams of antique gold ornaments worth Rs 3.75 lakh and other gold ornaments worth Rs 1.25 lakh. Apart from that, he has eight kg silver utensils.
